Click Link to Buy

Click Link to Buy!

One of the biggest concerns that affiliate marketers have is asking for the sale. Let me ask you a few questions…

How many times have you seen “click link to buy” on a website?

Is it effective in getting sales?

And…here is a big question for affiliate marketers: How can I entice people to click on a link when they can tell I’m getting a commission for them doing so?

There is two parts to this question. I want to address them both.

The first part I want to address is the uncomfortable part of people knowing I am earning a commission if they buy from me.

One of the weirdest things for many affiliate marketers in the beginning is being worried that people will know they are getting a commission when they click through and buy. My advise is to get over it.

There are many careers where people earn a commission in addition to a salary for selling a product. A few examples are car sales people, insurance salespeople
and appliance salespeople.

We affiliates are no different except that we don’t get paid a base salary. We live off of our commissions. So I personally don’t care if people know I make a commission.

For me, it is more important that I am helping people by giving them my honest opinion on a product and that if I love that product, I recommend it to them.

Of course I should get a commission for referring my reader to a product. It takes time and effort to write reviews, blog posts and build websites. Don’t you think we should get compensated for this? I do.

The second part of the question I want to address is “how to get people to click on a link“. A better question might be, “How do I get a better click through on my affiliate links”?.

If you do an excellent job of SEO with your website, you will attract targeted readers who are looking for the very information that you are offering to them.

This is why it is so important to know your niche market. Understand who your target audience is. Know what they need or what they are looking for. Then write good quality content that will help to solve their problem.

When you help people and solve a problem for them, they don’t care or even notice if you are getting commission.

I get way more click through’s with links in my content rather then banners or advertisements. So it is really important to write good quality content and then within that content link your key words to your product or product page.

For example if you are writing a review about toddler bath toys, you could link “toddler bath toys” to you affiliate link for toddler toys.

So the secret to getting people to click your link is to write good posts that solve a problem. When giving your potential customer a solution use a hyperlink with the key words to your affiliate page.

Avoid using “click Here”. I prefer to tell them why they are clicking. Try something like “click hear to learn how to potty train your toddler”. of course you can put anything in here.

I hope this information is helpful in helping you to get more click through’s to your affiliate link. As for the commission part, You deserve every penny you earn by helping people make good buying decisions.

Great post Wendy. Depends on the topic as to what works best, I’ve use wording like Get More Info, Buy Now to Save $, and Click for Discount Pricing. You’re so right you need something more than the run of the mill button.

This is a well written post, Wendy. We are WA and Google + buddies. After reading your article, I believe I am on the right track with my affiliate marketing links. I think I am going to add a piece on my front page explaining the commission thing and encouraging people to visit my vendors through me. We’ll see how that works.
