Deciding on a niche market can be the hardest part of affiliate marketing. So I thought it might be a good idea to share with you some some different ideas to pick a niche market that I use.
First of all you can write about any niche you want when it comes to affiliate marketing. My first and my main niche market was something that I picked because it was just fun. And that market was Toys for Kids. Now I am in no way an expert on toys, but since I am the Mom of 3 kids I found the the topic of toys was something that I new I could easily write about. Plus I have a pretty good idea what toys kids like.
But then when I was ready to start another site, I had a really hard time coming up with a niche. So I wanted to throw out a few ideas that may help you figure out a niche.
Believe it or not we are all experts at something! Learn how to use your knowledge and expertise to narrow in on a niche market.
Here is a quick way to come up with some great niche markets. Ask these questions to yourself and then write down the answers to those questions.
1. What are your hobbies? What do you like to do? Write down everything that comes to mind. Do you like to read, garden, collect things, bowl, play golf, cook, sing, dance, listen to music, go to the moves.
Make a list of your hobbies and then think about how you can help others within that niche. For example if you love to garden, think about how you learned to garden. If you were teaching someone what would you teach them. Better yet, narrow it down to a more targeted niche. For example, growing specific kinds of flowers of vegetables What are some problems that people may need help with.
2. What are you an expert at? Are you a parent? Teacher? What are some of the lessons that you have learned that you can help someone with? How can you help someone avoid some of the problems you had with teaching or parenting?
3. Did you have a health problem than you have been able to overcome? If so, how did you do it? What were your fears?
4. Have you suffered a tragedy in your life? The death of a loved one? A divorce? Health issues?
For me, when it comes to finding a niche its about being the answer to someones question or problem. In other words when someone does a search for a problem or they are looking for a product I want to have the answer for them.
What I do, is I think about something that I’m an expert at. Then I think about some of the problems that someone might have. Or what would they type into a search engine when they are looking for an answer.
For example, I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to raising kids. My youngest is 17 and my oldest is 22. So I’m a bit of an expert with raising teenagers. So could I give advise or help someone who is having problems with a teen? You bet I can. And there are lots of little niches withing the topic of raising teenagers. Let’s see there is dating issues, acne problems, identity problems, sex, confidence, drug and so much more.
